8. Efrain Escudero
In 2008 Efrain Escudero won the Ultimate Fighter season 8 lightweight tournament. He was expected to be a contender in the lightweight division, but it never materialized. Now at 30 years old, and in his 3rd stint with the UFC, time is really running out for him.
Escudero started his actual UFC career strong, knocking out Cole Miller in the first round, but then dropped a submission to Evan Dunham in his next fight. Escudero missed weight for his fight with Charles Oliveira in September of 2011, got choked out anyway, and was promptly released from his UFC contract.
After winning 5 of 6 on smaller shows he was brought back to the UFC, where he lost to Mac Danzig and Jacob Volkmann and got cut again. Despite only going 4W-3L on smaller shows he was brought back in for a 3rd shot at living up to his potential in the UFC. He’s gone 2W-3L in his latest stint.
