Trademark styles in MMA of the old days were which martial art a fighter practised, but over the years things have changed a whole lot. Fighters tend to be more proficient in all styles now, opening the door for an evolution in the sport.

Now there are far more subtle factors that make a combatant unique, and one of those is the ability to have trademark MMA finishing moves.

Whether it’s a Street Fighter style celebration or some sort of insane knockout that gets repeated over and over, modern MMA has provided us with some highlight reel gold lately.

Many of these MMA finishing moves make real life fights look like scenes from a video game.

Video: ‘UFC Fighter’ Beats On Two Drunk Dudes With One Hand

0

Street violence is hard to justify, and this video of a guy who claims to be a UFC fighter smashing two alleged bullies sparked massive debate. What’s your take?

For most of us in to our 30’s, growing up you’ve either witnessed or taken part in some sort of street fight. Throughout the ages  good old dust up has been a go-to method of solving disputes or problems in nearly all cultures.

Of course for many apart from the younger generations, these exploits happened with as few people as possible finding out, unless of course there were some bragging rights to be had. Mobile phone cameras and social media were non existent.

We now live in a different age, an era where standing and recording a brutal street beating instead of steeping in and breaking the fight up is acceptable. People want to make their video go viral, and social media outlets are littered with examples of this.

So enough setting the world to rights, on to the subject of the article. A video released showing a late night fight scene outside a block of apartments sparked huge debate, appearing to show a self proclaimed ‘UFC fighter’ beating on a couple of drunk guys, all the while recording it.

Perhaps if it was just some yahoo screaming that he was a UFC fighter to fend off a couple drunk jerks then fine, but there are a few points to flag up that will illustrate why this video was so controversial and widely discussed.

First of all there’s the issue of motive. The man filming the beating repeatedly states ‘don’t follow me,’ indicating that the two men have been pursuing him, both are bloodied at this point. The fact is there’s no way of determining who had started the fight and thus whether the punches were justified.

Secondly, the unnamed man claims to be a UFC fighter, seems innocuous enough, but note how he films the entire fight, meaning he is beating two guys off with one hand. You could argue that it’s hard enough for the average man to do that with both hands.

The deep voiced man then claims he ‘trains with Chuck Liddell,’ and this led to yet ore speculation that the gentleman was ‘Big’ Ben Rothwell, UFC heavyweight, this is because Rothwell has trained with Chuck in the past. The voice sounds very similar, and it led way to as mentioned, a pretty huge debate.

Legendary Kickboxing Champ Bullied A Top MMA Fighter When He Unfollowed Him On Instagram

Legendary kickboxing champion Tyrone Spong may be preparing for his third-ever pro MMA fight, but he recently refocused his anger on one of his Blackzilians teammate after he stopped following him on a popular social media site. Read on to watch it play out…

Heading into his WSOF 26 bout against Jake Heun on December 18, longtime 74-7-1(1) kickboxer Tyrone Spong still has a lot to prove as an MMA fighter.

That’s why he’s enlisted the help of South Florida’s elite Blackzilians team, where he trains at the Jaco Hybrid Training Center alongside illustrious names like Anthony ‘Rumble’ Johnson, Rashad Evans, and top lightweight contender Michael Johnson.

It’s got Spong up to par on his all-around MMA game, as it was clear that his wrestling and grappling probably needed a lot of work before he jumped full force into MMA. He may have it down by now, and if a recent video he posted online is any indication, he’s at least well on his way.

Find out why that might be the case after the jump…

This MMA Fighter’s Reaction To His Video Game Character Is Priceless

0

Ever wondered how your favorite MMA fighter might react to seeing their video game character? This UFC veteran’s reaction is so crazy…..

The video gaming industry is full of unique concepts and platforms for users to explore and experiment with, but no genre is perhaps more constant or popular than that of sports games.

NBA, NFL, FIFA, Madden & Tiger Woods are just a few types of sports video game that have been a big hit in recent years, but there have been a few MMA based games that have become classic gaming.

The UFC Undisputed series came with it’s fair share of glitches, and who can forget the vintage Pride FC game that took the Japanese MMA scene on to video game glory? So what of EA MMA?

Well, it was popular, but let’s be honest, it was nowhere near the level that many had hoped for. The game did have a number of decent playback and replay sharing options, as well as some cool characters to unlock, but lacked a realistic feel when playing.

Players such as Fedor Emelianenko and Randy Couture gave big name weight to the video game, and UFC veteran Jason ‘Mayhem’ Miller also provided plenty of fun for fans of the cooky JMMA star.

Back to the case in point, ever wondered how a fighter would react to seeing their character for the first time?

The video in question shows one well known face react to seeing how low his character’s skill level is on a popular MMA game, and it’s awesome!

Watch This Insane Pro Wrestling Move Win An MMA Fight In Japan

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is one of the biggest movie stars in the world right now, but before he took over Hollywood, he was winning fans and titles as one of the biggest pro wrestling stars to ever compete in the WWE. Now his signature finishing move has alarmingly been used to finish an MMA fight in Japan…

The Rock may not be known for his involvement in MMA, but apparently his influence has somehow spilled over into the cage. It’s hard to think that anyone would ever think about using his signature finishing move, however, as it’s quite an outlandish one to conceivably use in an MMA fight.

For example, The Rock once used it to slam Triple H and the ref through the announcer’s table simultaneously. Check it out:

Now, it’s been used to end an MMA fight between Luis Nogueira and Yuki Baba in Japan. While it wasn’t nearly as clean as the scripted slams that The Rock pulled off in the squared circle, it was quite the impressive way to finish an MMA fight. Read on to find out how he did it…

Best & Worst MMA Movies Ever Made 2015

best mma movies worst mma movies 2015

Much like any other movie genre, there are MMA flicks that kick ass, and then there are the terrible mixed martial arts films. Check out which ones made the cut….

We all love a good trip to the movies, whether it’s with your girl on a Saturday night, or with your boys to watch the latest action flick, it’s good wholesome fun. The subject of today’s article is MMA based movies and in particular the comparison between the best and the worse.

With the genre only really kicking in around the year 2000, there’s been a whole bunch of experimental and often hilariously bad MMA films floating around. A few of the crop could be considered awesome movies about the sport, and a few have broken in to the mainstream audience, but they are as mentioned very few.

Often using fighters as lead characters to attract the MMA fan base, plenty of movies come to mind where name recognition was favored much more than actual ability to act. As a result, many MMA movies can be considered corny at best.

Quite frequently the movies that bridge the gap best are the ones with great directors and production teams, and well known actors that are actually willing or already do train in MMA.

We’ve compiled the best and worst MMA movies ever made, hope you enjoy!

There’s no question that UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey has had an amazing impact on MMA, and that includes inspiring an all-new generation of female fighters to attain skills that even perhaps she could not reach. One such athlete already looks amazing at only age 8…

It’s easy to see that Ronda Rousey has become MMA’s biggest crossover media star ever since debuting in the UFC as their first-ever women’s champion in February of 2013. Her star power was apparent at the time, but it’s hard to imagine that anyone saw the absolute blitz that was coming soon.

Rousey has starred in movies and countless commercials, written a book, appeared on a growing number of high-profile magazine covers, and firmly entrenched herself as one of the most prominent mainstays of American pop culture.

Those are heights never before reached by a UFC athlete, yet Rousey’s biggest area of impact could come in the form of her female-inspiring “girl power” attitude, which has given her a rare kind of star power unique to her alone. That will and already has resulted in some truly terrifying future stars of female MMA, and one of them looks ready to take on the world at only age 8. Read on to find out who she is…

New Video Shows UFC’s Jon Jones Looking Like A TANK!

0

Former UFC light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones may not have fought since January, but he is looking RIPPED, and that deadlift is insane!!!

It’s been a long and windy road for ex-UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones, as he’s fought some serious adversity over the past 12 months. After failing an out-of-competition drug test for cocaine, things started to go downhill rapidly following UFC 182.

Defeating Daniel Cormier at the January 3rd event, many believed Jones’ 2015 would be filled with interesting fights such as the rematch with Alexander Gustafsson, but it wasn’t to be.

The sensational news that ‘Bones’ had been popped for cocaine was followed with a string of negative media, all coming to a head in April when Jones was involved in an early morning hit-and-run in New Mexico that left a pregnant woman with a broken arm, and Jones’ reputation in tatters.

Eventually Jones was let off with probation, but came very close to the proverbial fire. Lucky to escape jail time, the former champ was reinstated by the UFC and has reignited his rivalry with Daniel Cormier.

A lot needs to change for ‘Bones’ to once again cement his status at the top of the division, firstly he’ll have to dedicate himself to training without partying, see out his probation, and then the biggest task of defeating ‘DC’ t recapture the belt, although he has done that once before.

So how is ‘Bones’ looking in the gym? If the following video footage is anything to go by, the guy is looking like a straight up TANK!

Top 5 Options For Nick Diaz's Next UFC Appearance - RantSports

Nick Diaz may be suspended for five years for smoking the ganja, but during his last fight he pulled off some truly insane antics against Anderson Silva at January’s UFC 183. His ‘bong bro’ and Octagon commentator Joe Rogan had a truly hilarious reaction when Diaz taunted ‘The Spider’….

For several years, popular UFC bad boy Nick Diaz has been entertaining fans with his anti-authority attitude inside and out of the cage. He recently made some big headlines when he was suspended for an alarming five years by the Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC) for his third failed drug test for marijuana, but during the fight after which he failed the test, he pulled off some truly classic antics against a returning Anderson Silva.

Battling an opponent that had been out of action for the previous 13 months due to a gruesome leg break against Chris Weidman at UFC 168, Diaz actually laid down on the canvas in an attempt to fool Silva into playing his game.

The crowd loved it in one of the most anticipated bouts of they year, and they weren’t all that got a rise out of the polarizing and controversial Diaz’ unorthodox psychological warfare. When he broke his shocking plan, Octagon commentator and fellow marijuana backer Joe Rogan had quite the reaction to Diaz’ hilarious antics. Read on to see what it was…
