Nick Diaz – UFC 137

Before Conor McGregor made headlines by not showing up for a UFC 200 media day, Nick Diaz lost an opportunity to challenge for the welterweight championship by not showing up to a press conference.

Leading into UFC 137, Diaz was supposed to appear at a press conference in Toronto but missed his flight and went AWOL for a few days. Even Diaz’s long time coach Cesar Gracie stated that he couldn’t stand up for Diaz on this one. Diaz was removed from the UFC 137 main event and replaced with Carlos Condit. Diaz would face BJ Penn at 137 instead, a fight he was victorious in. He would eventually get his fight against GSP a year and a half later, but would be defeated via a unanimous decision.
