Brandon Vera vs. Thiago Silva
Brandon Vera had only just recovered from a tough loss to Jon Jones that had left him with his face broken in three places when he went up against Thiago Silva in early 2011 with his future in the promotion at stake.
Unfortunately for the Hawaiian, ‘The Truth’ was heading into another beatdown at the hands of the Brazilian Silva, who punished him with big strikes in the final round.
At the end of the fight the camera panned in on Vera’s face, revealing that his nose was badly broken, leading to audible gasps from the crowd.
Vera took it all in his stride though, looking at the big screen to check out the extent of the damage and then grinning before taking a bow as the crowd applauded his toughness.
