Devin Powell vs. Jonathan Lemke
Devin Powell had a big opportunity to make it to the big leagues when Dana White showed up with Matt Serra and Din Thomas to his fight with Jonathan Lemke at an NEF event back in 2016 as part of his ‘Lookin’ For A Fight’ series.
Powell was looking to impress and started brightly, but his momentum threatened to derail completely when Lemke caught him with a series of strikes that left him with a badly broken nose.
However, Powell kept his composure despite the injury and would go on to tap out Lemke later in the round via rear-naked choke, and that clearly impressed the event’s special guests.
“You could see his nose, it just looked like it turned inside out, upside down and folded to the side – but he never let that bother him,” Din Thomas recalled afterwards.
Following the fight, Powell was invited backstage to meet Dana White, who greeted him with good news, offering him a chance to fight in the UFC after his nose healed.
