The Rapid Decline Of Ronda Rousey
Single-handedly responsible for women’s MMA coming to the UFC, it’s also a testament to Ronda Rousey’s star power that at her peak she was rivalling even Conor McGregor as the sport’s biggest draw.
Almost a million people watched on PPV as Rousey KO’d Bethe Correia at UFC 190 in 2015, while she surpassed that by selling out a stadium in Australia for her next fight with Holly Holm at UFC 193, watched by 1.1 million.
The only problem was that Rousey was battered from pillar to post in that fight by Holm before being brutally head kick KO’d.
Suddenly Rousey’s brash, outspoken, fearless personality vanished and she shunned the media spotlight for a year, before an attempt to make a comeback against Amanda Nunes at UFC 207 fell flat on it’s face after being TKO’d in 48 seconds.
Despite still having drew over a million fans on PPV and only being 29-years-old, ‘Rowdy’ chose to walk away from fighting and instead signed for the WWE.
