Conor McGregor Attacks Bus At UFC 223 Media Day
There’s no doubt that Conor McGregor is the biggest superstar the sport has ever seen, but in the process the UFC may have created something of a monster.
Never was this more clearly seen than on April 3rd of 2018 when McGregor flew on a private jet from Ireland to New York with members of his entourage in order to confront his rival Khabib Nurmagomedov following a UFC 223 media day in Brooklyn.
What happened next was the single most shocking moment outside the Octagon in the history of the UFC as McGregor led the angry mob to a fighter bus where Khabib was located and proceeded to lay seige to it.
During the violent scenes that followed, McGregor throw a steel dolly through one of the bus windows, injuring fellow fighters Michael Chiesa and Ray Borg, in addition to UFC staff members n the process.
McGregor and other members of his mob were later arrested by the NYPD, but he would eventually manage to avoid going to jail.
The incident was a major embarassment for the UFC and tarnished their reputation just two years after legalizing the sport in New York, while their failure to adequately punish McGregor afterward highlighted how much power the superstar now holds, leaving an uneasy feeling that their greatest assett is also a ticking time bomb.
