Anthony Smith vs. Glover Teixeira
Anthony Smith may have lost out in his title fight against Jon Jones last year, but he proved he’s not just a flash in the pan by returning only a few months later to submit Alexander Gustafsson and continue his impressive record of finishing 29 of his 32 career wins inside the distance.
After almost a year layoff, Smith is now set to return against someone who can match that natural killer instinct in the shape of Glover Teixeira, who boasts 25 finishes in 30 career wins and is currently riding a three-fight winning streak.
With that in mind this UFC Fight Night 173 headliner appeared to have all the makings of being an action-packed scrap both on the feet and on the mat, but with the fight a little over a month away, current border restrictions will likely make it impossible to put the event on in it’s originally intended destination of Nebraska, Canada, and it may prove equally challenging to host it anywhere else.
