“Shut up loser! You’re the biggest fuck up in the history of sports,” Covington told Jon Jones on Twitter after the star wished Georges St.Pierre luck in his comeback fight and called him an inspiration.
It soon emerged that there was a much deeper history between Covington and Jones as they actually both lived together for some time at Iowa Central Community College.
“We were cool the first couple of months we lived together but he was difficult as shit to live with,” Covington explained on Submission Radio. “The guy was dirty, he stunk, he didn’t shower. The guy was just a mess. He was getting into partying and all that bad stuff back then. He was just going down the wrong path but he always tried to act like a saint, ‘Oh, I’m into religion, I’m all about God,’ this and that. He’s just fooling all the fans.”
Needless to say Jones wasn’t too happy about that and claimed Covington wasn’t exactly big on telling the truth.
“One thing I’ll say about him that I wish people realized was how severe of a liar he is,” Jones told RTSport. “He is an extraordinary liar.”
