Pat Barry And Mirko ‘Cro Cop’ Filipovic
One of the most memorable friendships in all of MMA must surely be that between Pat Barry and Mirko ‘Cro Cop’ Filipovic.
Barry was such a fan of the living legend Cro Cop that he couldn’t stop gushing about him in the lead-up to their UFC fight back in 2010, and while the normally stoic Filipovic didn’t seem to know how to take it at first, ‘HD’s’ child-like enthusiasm eventually grew on him to the extent that by fight night they were grinning widely and hugging each other mid-fight, inbetween punching each other senseless.
That wasn’t the peak of their bromance though as later Cro Cop would invite Barry to Croatia to train with him and that led to a road trip in which ‘HD’ would film them singing The Beach Boy’s ‘California Dreaming’ together.
The heart-warming duet would be treasured by MMA fans around the world, though ‘Cro Cop’ would later joke to reporters that he was going to kick Barry’s ass for releasing it on YouTube!
