Kajan Johnson
The outspoken Kajan Johnson always had somewhat of an adversarial relationship with the UFC due to his efforts to put together a fighters union under the banner ‘Project Spearhead’ and criticism of their sponsorship deal with Reebok.
However, Johnson also ruffled feathers at UFC HQ when he released a single called ‘Hustle Makes Muscle’ that included a music video in which he’s seen kidnapping a rich, bald man who had a passing resemblance to UFC president Dana White.
“‘We’re completely okay with the whole unionizing effort and you organizing and all the things you’re saying in your podcast, things you’re saying in your interviews, we don’t have a problem with that,” Johnson claimed to MMAfighting.com that matchmaker Sean Shelby had told his management. “But [not shaking Dana White’s hand] and that music video, that’s how you get cut.’”
Johnson’s repeated run-ins with the UFC eventually cost him though as after back-to-back losses the promotion opted not renew his contract.
