McGregor vs. Nurmagomedov Brawl
After the bus attack court case was settled, a grudge match between McGregor and Nurmagomedov was booked for UFC 229 on October 6th.
Fearing more trouble, the UFC drafted in extra security for the event and kept the two fighters apart as much as possible during fight week in Las Vegas, until they finally stepped into the Octagon together to settle their differences.
Nurmagomedov then handed McGregor a one-sided beating before finishing him in the fourth round with a neck crank submission, but that wasn’t the end of the drama.
Instead, a fired-up Nurmagomedov began exchanging words with McGregor’s Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu coach Dillon Dannis and then angrily leapt over the cage and launched himself at the Bellator fighter, leading to a brief, chaotic scuffle between them.
Meanwhile, McGregor appeared to take a swing at one of Nurmagomedov’s coaches as they both attempted to climb the cage and then found himself under attack as other members of Nurmagomedov’s camp entered the Octagon and started to trade blows with him, before being pulled away.
Those disgraceful scenes marred what would prove to be the most successful pay-per-view event in UFC history, estimated at 2.4 million buys, while McGregor and Nurmagomedov are still temporarily suspended pending punishments that may be handed out by the Nevada State Athletic Commission for their actions.
