Niko Price’s Hammerfists
Niko Price did something that nobody could remember seeing before at UFC Fight Night 133 in Boise, Idaho on July 14th.
Early in the second round of his fight with Randy Brown, Price found himself in a tricky spot, with his opponent on top after he failed with a leg lock attempt.
Hooking one of Brown’s legs with his right arm and placing his left foot under his opponents neck, Price found the leverage to land uncommonly vicious hammerfists from his back, and almost instantly Brown appeared to slide into unconsciousness.
However, because Brown’s head was still being held upright by Price’s foot and it seemed so unlikely that anyone would get a finish from that position, the ref didn’t react immediately and Price landed a total of five more nasty hammerfists to his defenseless foe before it was all over.
Price later confirmed that Brown had gone out with the first strike he landed, saying, “when I hit him, his eyes just rolled.”
