Jonathan Ivey vs. Travis Fulton
Jonathan Ivey’s fight with Travis Fulton was memorable for many different reasons.
For instance, both men were in their 40’s at the time and had a staggering 396 fights between them (308 for Fulton).
Even more bizarrely though, Ivey was a self-confessed fan of Fulton, to the extent that he even had a tattoo of the veteran on his leg!
The fight itself was just as much of a curiousity, with Ivey even faking a heart attack at one stage before continuing to fight on, catching his opponent by surprise with a punch soon after.
Ivey then became landing vicious ground and pound, but with the referee close to stopping the fight, Ivey suddenly stopped, retreated and reached down to tap out on the canvas.
“I didn’t want to punch him after his eyes rolled back and he was defenseless,” Fulton explained later. “I was never the fighter Travis was and I never will be. He’s the reason I made the decisions I did during my career. I wasn’t going to keep punching him when the fight should have been over.”
