Lyoto Machida vs. Mark Munoz

Lyoto Machida and Mark Munoz were reluctant to fight each other back in 2013 as they were friends and training partners, and in fact had been in the gym together just two days before Machida was drafted in as a late replacement to headline the show.

Nevertheless, the fight went on and with a lot at stake the opening minutes of the fight were tense with little in the way of action until Machida connected with a head kick that sent Munoz crashing to the canvas.

Machida started to follow him to the mat ready to attack, but seeing that Munoz was already rocked and unable to defend himself he stopped himself while his fist was drawn back and instead slowly stood back up and respectfully bowed to his opponent as the referee swooped in to end the contest.

He then went back down to his knees and held his friends hand as he regained his senses, gave him a hug and helped him back to his feet.  The two then ensured their friendship would continue by having dinner together that night.
