Brock Lesnar’s Battle With Diverticulitis
Already a superstar in the WWE, Brock Lesnar was quickly snapped up by the UFC in 2008 when he transitioned to MMA and he exceeded expectations by going on to win the heavyweight title and break the one million barrier on PPV.
The sky appeared to be the limit for Lesnar, but at his peak disaster struck when he was diagnosed with diverticulitis, a potentially career-threatening illness.
Lesnar did eventually defended his title a year later against Shane Carwin, but his diverticulitis flared up again prior to a fight with Junior dos Santos and resulted in surgery to remove 12 inches of his colon.
Lesnar fought twice after recovering, but losses to Cain Velasquez and Alistair Overeem made up his his mind to return to the WWE, leaving many to wonder what might have been if he had stayed healthy during his UFC run.
