Only three events into their reign, the UFC’s new owners Zuffa prepared to steer the promotion back onto the pay-per-view market with a stacked UFC 33 fight card that featured no less than three title fights.
Unfortunately for them and the 75,000 fans watching on PPV, the show would go down as one of the worst events in UFC history, with one tedious fight after another, including all five main card fights going to a decision.
Don’t take our word for it though. White himself has repeatedly berated the event over the years, once stating that, “UFC 33 is the only one I can remember where every fight sucked.”
To make matters worse, because so many fights went to a decision, including three 25 minute title-fights, the show overran it’s time limit on pay-per-view, so many providers cut the broadcast in the middle of the deathly dull main event between Tito Ortiz and Vladimir Matyushenko.
