CM Punk is so hated that some people will be upset at his inclusion on this list, because they don’t feel he should count as a mixed martial artist at all.
It’s true that Punk has no MMA background, although he has been training jiu-jitsu for a few years now. It is also true that many feel Punk being granted a spot on a UFC card despite it being his first pro fight isn’t fair. While it might not be fair, Punk has a large fan base who will pay to see him fight, and that makes sense for the UFC.
Punk is hated in the same way someone who cuts to the front of a line is normally hated, but that doesn’t mean he won’t still draw money on PPV.
