Karo Parisyan

After a TKO loss to Thiago Alves in 2008, Karo Parisyan revealed that during his training camp he’d struggled to eat and sleep and had been diagnosed with having panic attacks too.

“Anxiety will be there. Anxiety you can control. The physical panic attack is the one that hits and brings you to your knees,” Parisayan once said.

The fact that Parisyan had financial issues and was providing for much of his family also weighed heavily on him, admitting that, “You’re fighting under this big rock, and you’re trying to get out, and you just can’t breathe.”

Parisyan also had issues with using painkillers and was eventually fired by the UFC after he pulled out of a fight on weigh-ins day due to his mental troubles and told his father, “I hope my plane crashes on the way home.”

Parisyan would return to fighting though and did fight for Bellator several times, but never reached the heights of earlier in his career.
