Sultan Aliev’s face took a beating during his fight with Warlley Alves at UFC 224 in 2018, and in the second round an enormous lump quickly began swelling up under his right eye due to the damage he’d sustained.
It truly was a freakish sight to behold and thought he fought on, inbetween rounds his own corner agreed with the doctor’s ruling that he couldn’t continue.
Almost a year later Aliev was fully recovered from the injury, but after earning a win over Keita Nakamura in his next Octagon outing he announced his retirement.
