Andy Anderson vs. Jon Hess
A fight between Andy Anderson and Jon Hess all the way back at UFC 5 in 1995 is seen by some as the dirtiest fight in the history of the promotion.
At this stage the UFC was being billed as a ‘No-holds-barred’ sport with no rules, but the reality was there was still some moves that were illegal, such as eye-gouging and biting, but apparently Hess didn’t get the memo.
The fight only lasted 83 seconds, but according to Anderson, during that time, Hess scratched his eyes with his fingers, bit his hand and stuck his thumb in his eye two times – the second of which caused it to pop out of it’s socket.
Hess would go on to win the fight by TKO despite his callous disregard for the rules, while Anderson lost 20% of the peripheral vision in his right eye due to his dirty tactics and never fought again.
