The Pace Choke

Some submissions in the UFC are so fresh that they have to given a name afterwards, as was the case when Nick Pace christened his finishing move against Will Campuzano at the TUF 12 Finale in 2010 the ‘Pace Choke.’

In essence the move was an armless triangle choke, which Pace claims just came to him in the spur of the moment when Campuzano left himself in a vulnerable position on the mat with barely 30 seconds of the fight remaining, leading to the submission stoppage.

It was the first time this particular choke had ever been used in MMA competition, but others have since pointed out that it is essentially what is known as a pillory choke in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
