The Back Elbow
Elbows are undoubtedly a powerful weapon in MMA, although it’s often their ability to slice open nasty cuts to the head that makes the biggest impression.
That being said, under the right circumstances they can also provide knockout finishes, although the way in which Dan Henderson finished off Hector Lombard at UFC 199 in 2016 was highly unusual.
Better known for his patented ‘H-Bomb’ right hand, on this occasion, when Lombard caught a kick, Hendo simply drew his elbow to the side, then sent it pistoning back into the side of Lombard’s temple, sending him crumbling to the mat, before a couple more elbows connected to his already unconscious victim’s head.
