Hammerfists From Bottom Position
Finishing an opponent off with punches from top position is commonplace in the UFC, but doing so from your back is almost unheard of due to the lack of leverage required to generate stopping power.
However, Niko Price didn’t let that put him off when he trapped Randy Brown in an unusual position at UFC Fight Night 133 in 2018.
Early in the second round Brown was on top and looking to get into a position to land strikes when Price grabbed onto one of his legs for leverage, while putting his other shin under his opponent’s chin to hold him in place, and then started blasting him with hammerfists to the side of the head.
Such was the power he was able to generate from this position that within a couple of strikes Brown already appeared to be out cold and was only being held up by Price’s shin, with several more blows landing before the ref could wave off the fight.
