The Von Flue Choke

Until Ovince Saint Preux appeared on the scene, The Von Flue Choke was an ultra-rare submission named after Jason Von Flue, who first used it in the WEC back in 2003, before repeating the feat in 2006 at UFC Fight Night 3 against Alex Karalexis.

A shoulder choke from side control, the submission would virtually disappear without trace until OSP utilized it early in his UFC career to tap out Nikita Krylov at UFC 171 in 2014.

After a few years Saint Preux had become so adept at the submission that it became a go-to move, tapping out both marcos Rogerio de Lima and Yushin Okami with it in back-to-back fights in 2017, and then most recently racking up his fourth finish with it against Michel Olekseijczuk, which has only strengthened calls for it to be renamed the ‘Von Preux’ choke.
