The Calf Slicer

The calf slicer is a painful muscle compression lock that is rarely executed in MMA, but two fighters have managed to make it work in the UFC over the years.

The first was Jiu-Jitsu ace Charles Oliveira, who currently holds the record for the most submission in UFC history (13) and showed off the depth of his submission arsenal by securing the first ever calf slicer in the promotion against Eric Wisely in 2012.

Then in 2017, Welsh fighter Brett Johns also got in on the act by claiming his first submission win inside the UFC with a calf slicer in a fight with Joe Soto.
