Mike Perry vs. Jake Ellenberger
Once a genuine contender at welterweight, Jake Ellenberger had only mustered two wins from his previous eight fights before his 2017 encounter with Mike Perry.
By the second round of his fight with Perry thinks were looking bleak as he was floored by a left hand, but worse still, soon afterwards Perry landed a huge elbow strike from the clinch that KO’d Ellenberger in stunning fashion and resulted in his head slamming off the mat on the way down.
Perry went off to celebrate and the camera focused on his brief breakdancing routine, before then panning up to show that Ellenberger was still completely laid out, with concerned officials surrounding him.
It would be several more minutes before he finally did regain consciousness
“Maybe it’s time for him to hang up the gloves,” Perry suggested afterwards, but it would be another two tough losses due to strikes before Ellenberger did finally take that advice.
