Kyle Kingsbury vs. Jimi Manuwa
During his previous day job as a fireman, Kyle Kingsbury came into work with a black eye from fighting during his probationary period and was warned that it could cost him his job, which led to him pursuing MMA full-time instead.
While fighting for the UFC in 2011, Kingsbury suffered a broken left orbital bone against Fabio Maldonado, but despite his eye swelling shut he managed to fight on for a decision victory.
Over a year later, Kingsbury went up against the hard-hitting Jimi Manuwa, and again found himself with another severe eye injury that left his orbital bone fractured in two places.
Kingsbury contemplated retirement after that latest injury setback, but instead spent two years recovering before retiring after another loss.
