Cody Stevens vs. Aaron Mitchell
Cody Stevens suffered the worst eye injury in MMA history against Aaron Mitchell at Honor 6 FC last year.
During a striking exchange in the second round, Mitchell’s thumb strayed straight into Stevens eye and the damage was devastating it completely puncturing his eyeball, resulting in much of the fluid contained within it leaking out.
Stevens could well have had his eye surgically removed that night, but against the odds doctor’s were able to save it.
However, Stevens still has issues with the eye, including retina detachments and shrinkage of the organ, and it’s possible it will have to be removed in the future, though for now he’s considered legally blind in that eye.
As a result Stevens career in the cage came to an end, though he’s continued on in the sport as a coach.
