Dan Henderson / Randy Couture / Bruce Buffer – Poker After Dark
On a week long MMA special of NBC’s Poker After Dark, three stars of the sport, Dan Henderson, Randy Couture and Octagon announcer Bruce Buffer were put on a table with three veteran poker stars, who also happened to be MMA fans – Patrik Antonius, Howard Lederer and Erick Lindgren.
Of the trio, Buffer was the most experienced poker player, and in fact at the time of writing he’s earned over $300,000 in lifetime earnings, though when the episode first aired he had only just recently cashed out for the first time on the poker circuit.
Meanwhile, Henderson tried to downplay his own poker playing experience and for a while that left the pro’s not being sure what to make of him and at one stage he was even the overall chip leader.
Couture on the other hand wasn’t much of a card shark and found himself being knocked out by Hendo early in the tournament.
The other two acquitted themselves remarkably well though, with Hendo outlasting two of the pro’s to come in third place, while Buffer went head-to-head with ‘The Professor’ Lederer and ultimately had to settle for finishing as runner-up.
